Forever Morgans Rescue, Inc. is an all-volunteer, non-profit 501(c)3 rescue organization that strives to help Morgan horses in immediate need and places them in adoptive or foster homes. Horses come from broker lots, auctions, neglect and abuse situations, and owner surrender. We always need foster and adoptive homes, donations, and volunteers. Please join us!

All donations to Forever Morgans are tax deductible as allowed by law.

Each horse is adopted with a contract to ensure they do not end up at auction again. Many of these rescued Morgans have gone on to be show horses, family riding and driving horses and for therapeutic handicap riding.

Please consider fostering or adopting. The horses are not truly safe until they are home!

Not Rideable

His current daily routine involves feeding, grooming, and fly spray. Kid is blind and can only see shadows. This makes him nervous to handle and should have an experienced handler. He loves being groomed, but has not been cross tied. He stands well in the stall for grooming. He has only trailered when picked up in 2020 before losing full sight. He is very loving and has no behavioral issues. He is currently turned out in wood fencing and round pen panels. He is gentle and stands well for the farrier.

Kid is described by a former owner as a fun horse to drive who loves attention. An Amish buggy horse, he came with a note that said he is not sound for long trips and balks if not handled properly. For that reason, he is best suited for an experienced handler. We were told that starting him off uphill sometimes triggered the balking but that he was fine for hooking; doesn't take a hold; and is generally traffic safe, although he might look at a scary vehicle or puddle. It is not known whether Kid was taught to ride. We do know that he spent a short time at a professional training barn as a 2-year-old but was sold before his education progressed beyond longlining because his owners were looking for a different type of horse. He had no vision or soundness issues then.

A former owner from several years ago said Kid tied, cross tied, and loaded on trailers at that time. He did not crib and had no other vices at that point.
